To have a dream is one thing. To dream that you want to climb to the summit of Everest is another. To actually fulfill this dream is considerably more difficult, and for most it is perceived as hugely selfish. However for some, they are not only ready to commit to the hardships of climbing, but along the way they also want to help others who are less fortunate than themselves. Lance Fox is one of those special people in the world who has a burning desire to succeed, but also has the disposition that enables him to lend a hand to others around him.

After many years Lance eventually found the time, money and effort to undertake the practical part of his dream. Along the way he endured considerable personal pain both physically and mentally, won and lost friendships, put his own life in danger and became a team player amongst a group of strangers who found themselves grouped together to undertake the same challenge. The difference with Lance is that he also wanted to use his veterinary skills to help the local Sherpa people along the way. Through considerable forethought and lobbying he was able to secure the required equipment and medicine, enabling him to help local Sherpa farmers whilst he traveled to the foot of Mount Everest - an effort that is appreciated by the same people who were to help Lance so much as he climbed up the icy slopes of the same mountain.

This is an insight into the trials and tribulations that Lance endured during his journey to the top of the world, his inner most feelings, and observations on a team that bonded together in this most inhospitable environment. The tears and laughter along the way contribute to everyone's personal journey making them each a stronger person and it is these which make the eventual success a dream come true rather than a very real nightmare.
